Quilts visit first grade

Earlier this month, I made a quilt presentation to four first grade classrooms at Mendota Elementary.  It was lots of fun and the kids were delightful.  They have been studying quilting from the art AND math perspective and were most attentive.  Later this winter we hope to do some kind of project where each child can make some type of quilt block….anyone interested in assisting?
This was the quietest school I've ever been in before!

I gave them a taste of what goes into a quilt…including the inspirations and designs.  I had an assortment of quilts to show, including Jennifer Falkowski's wonderful corduroy quilt made of slacks and including the pockets!
